I was born and raised in Saskatchewan and moved to Calgary in August 2012. Immediately upon arriving in Calgary, I stumbled upon the insolvency industry, and since then have never looked back. To me, there is no greater feeling than being able to help another, and I am grateful for a career that allows me to do so each and every day.
As an Estate Manager, my clients describe me as a non-judgmental, kind and compassionate individual, with a warm and welcoming personality. In May 2013, I successfully obtained my Insolvency Administration Certificate, in July 2018, I obtained my ICQC (Insolvency Counsellor’s Qualification Course), and currently, I am pursuing my CIRP designation. My hope is to achieve my long-time goal of becoming a Licensed Insolvency Trustee in 2020.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my four adorable nieces, exercising, and doing anything outside!
“Thank you so much Kara Kolbenson for all your help during a very confusing process. Kara was there for us through every step and always willing to take the time to explain. Thanks again Grant Thornton we are very satisfied with the process from start to finish.” – Wanda, Airdrie, AB
“When I was at the realization that I just couldn’t keep all the payments juggled anymore, I reached out to Grant Thorton. My initial appointment with Kara Kolbenson was immediately a relief. She listened, laid out my options, and simply took the load from my shoulders without any judgement. From that appointment to signing the documents, communication was clear and timely. As I move into my bankruptcy period, I have the trust that I am in good hands and am supported. I do not hesitate to recommend this team.” – Cheryl, Calgary, AB
