I am the Managing Partner of Grant Thornton Limited’s Consumer Insolvency practice across Canada.
I have worked in the insolvency industry for over 25 years, splitting my time between helping individuals with overwhelming debt get a financial fresh start and helping companies from diverse industries—ranging from manufacturing and retail to fishing and forestry—overcome their financial challenges. I also spent 10 years in lead finance and accounting roles with a publicly traded company and an international firm of consulting engineers.
I hold a Bachelor or Commerce from St. Mary’s University, am a Chartered Professional Accountant, a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional, a Licensed Insolvency Trustee and a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada. I’ve served as President of the Nova Scotia Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals, President of the Atlantic Chapter of the Risk Management Association and board member of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals.
In 2018, I was awarded a Fellowship by the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals for my commitment to the Association and the insolvency profession.
I am also passionate about helping my community. I am a board member and treasurer of the Strongest Families Institute, which helps families with children experiencing mental illness and behavioral issues. I was also past chair of the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia after having volunteered in several other roles.
When not helping clients, I spend my time playing tennis, running and enjoying live music.
