Credit counseling

In situations where debt is low but repayment is becoming unmanageable help from a credit counselling agency may be an option. Non-profit credit counselling organizations contact creditors on your behalf. They also provide education and counselling on personal budgeting strategies and how to avoid debt.

Debt Help and Bankruptcy A credit counsellor will meet with you and find out how much you can pay monthly towards your bills. The counsellor then works as a mediator; payments to the credit counsellor are placed in trust accounts and sent to your creditors on a regular basis. The credit counsellor will provide you with a positive note in your credit file, if you properly adhere to the program.
